Dr. Peterson, I haven't quite figured out yet. I think he started out on the path of good intent, to help men become better...even help humanity at a personal cost. Then, the weak Left came after him, attempting to destroy him. Instead, they created a demagogue. I believe this is most apparent when he wears his two-face suit. I'm not on the Left, nor the Right. I'm a textualist. If you're against the original ideas of the nation & the documents at her founding, then you're opposite the political side.
Weak men are being manipulated by strong women to overthrow strong men. This is leading us into an age of bullies, populists, destruction of process, regression of culture, and resurgence of extremist religious ideologies. We'll see where this leads. Most of us in the quiet center sit & watch the "idios" (see ancient Greek meaning) on the Right & Left war with one another waiting to see if we need to step in and stop the childish, boorish behavior.
Enjoyed your talk. Perhaps, we'll see the narcissism die & accountability rise again. It is certainly upon us to lead this upcoming generation into strong men. I have raised two strong sons that are now raising their families, but the young men entering the workforce under me need a lot of empathy, guidance, love, leadership, investment, & nurturing; however the loyalty i see in return reminds me of VP Wallace's description of Stalin's version of communism. A 1:3 return on investment.
Appreciate your thoughtful engagement. I think we share concern over how lost many young men feel right now. Where I might differ is in seeing the solution not in reclaiming dominance, but in reimagining strength as relational rather than hierarchical. I’d love to hear more about what kind of models you think we should be lifting up in place of the ones you see fading.
I see a rise in the desire to return to the shame based traditions in response to the rise in narcissism from technology while these same supporters wish to exclude themselves from being affected, case in point the Tate Bros.
We're in a feedback loop of attrition. Instead of men standing their ground with communication they're choosing disengagement entirely, almost as though one side women as Athenian Greeks and men as Spartan Greeks. Women as we'll have a sampling of everything, mens' response, fine then we'll sample nothing and isolate ourselves only venturing out to conquer. It's a war for power instead of both sides (and it pains me to see the two genders as sides) coming together as one seeking to compliment one another's natural weaknesses and missing attributes. I can't asexually reproduce. That's a species weakness. Women suck at hand to hand against men, species weakness. Instead of trying to make life a team sport we've allowed propaganda to destroy the very foundation of the meaning of life itself. Get back to that, and then young boys might not be confused about what it takes to be men. It requires loyalty, honor, respect, gratitude, humility, willingness to learn, resourcefulness, resilience, & trust in onesself, but above all, trust in one's social circle or team. We've lost self-respect, honor, loyalty, & just about every other quality. There were organizations but weak men destroyed them. Sometimes, I wonder if there ever were any honorable or respectable organizations or if the truth is just one hidden historical fact from destroying it too.
